Raisa Punkki, is a Certified Pilates Teacher, Certified Yoga Teacher and a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner. She holds a BA in Dance Pedagogy and an MA in Dance from University of Arts, Finland. Raisa was first introduced to Pilates in 1991 and Yoga in 1988. She found that the benefits of these practices were tremendously helpful to keep her body-mind in good shape while touring the world as a performing dance artist.

Raisa studied Pilates with Jennifer Stacey from 2003-2021 and got certified from Ms Stacey’s vigorous Teacher Training program in 2006. She also had a great privilege to study with Joseph Pilates’ students Kathy Grant and Ron Fletcher among others. In 2005 Raisa became a business partner at the Peak Performance Pilates studios in San Francisco. Raisa is also teaching Yoga privately and at the Integral Yoga Institute in San Francisco. She has certifications in beginning, intermediate levels in Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga and she is also a certified Stress Management Teacher from Yogaville.

In January 2022 Raisa graduated from three year long Somatic Experiencing® study program and is currently studying with Somatic Experiencing® creator and founder Dr.Peter Levine's Masterclass. She is applying her skills in nervous system regulation to her teaching.

Being a life long student, she is constantly educating herself in body-mind sciences.

Raisa fully dives into teaching, calmly and skillfully guiding her students to new discoveries about their body-mind connection. She combines her over 35 years of expertise in movement, breath and body-mind education under the umbrella of IdaFlow LLC.

TESTIMONIALS

"Working with Raisa brings countless benefits. The Zoom sessions with her have been foundational to my ongoing physical and mental health during the pandemic.

In this era of restricted movement—whether we are fully isolated or just not able to see friends and live life normally—it’s so crucial to move. Whatever issues bring us to Pilates are aggravated by lack of movement—more sitting, working in bed, fewer walks, whatever. When we don’t move, we get jammed up.

Raisa is a genius about the human body! She has studied so extensively in so many fields, and this is evident in every session. She pays such close attention to everything that is happening. I feel completely safe—it’s uncanny how even in the Zoom modality, Raisa can tell exactly where I am holding tension or am off balance.

For those who come to Pilates to gain strength, the remote sessions are wonderful. The machines are so great and I miss them, but the mat work actually feels harder.

I have learned so many techniques for working with the four walls around me—the wall has become such a good friend in terms of movement, strength, lengthening. And I am continuing to learn new ways all the time to better understand, develop, care for, and strengthen my own body under Raisa’s guidance.

Working with Raisa is the best thing I have done for myself during quarantine. I recommend her and the Zoom sessions highly!

********

I’ve had a top notch experience resuming my
Classes with Raisa at Peak Performance Pilates.

It is truly a 1:1 experience.
I always felt the location and environment
were very safe, clean, disinfected,
and have a very low to no risk of
coming in contact with the
Covid-19 virus or any other viruses.

I LOVE   working With Raisa.
I also did my part in following
all directives and protocols that
were required by Peak Performance
Pilates and wore an N95 mask,
gloves and some other things I
thought helpful.
I am REALLY looking forward to
resuming my classes.
