What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing (SE™) aims to resolve symptoms of stress, shock, and trauma that accumulate in our bodies and nervous systems. Trauma, from an SE lens, is focused on how it shows up in the nervous system and how that dysregulation impacts life. When we are stuck in patterns of fight, flight, or freeze, SE helps us release, recover, and become more resilient. It is a body-oriented therapeutic model applied in multiple professions and professional settings. It is the life’s work of Dr. Peter A. Levine.

What is Pilates?
Pilates is a method of exercise and physical movement designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. Pilates is a systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates is not only as a fitness endeavor, but also an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.
What is Yoga?
Yoga is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines that originate in ancient India, aimed at controlling body and mind to attain various goals, including the peaceful mind and easeful body.

Raisa Punkki
SEP, MA, CPT, RYT-500

punkkiCo dance company's founder and director Raisa Punkki is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner®, Certified Pilates Teacher, Certified Integral Hatha Yoga Teacher from Beginning to Advanced levels, Stress Management and Raja Yoga Teacher.

Raisa has over 35 years of expertise in working with human body through various movement practices. She holds a BA in Dance Pedagogy and an MA in Dance from University of Arts, Finland. Before moving to San Francisco, California in 2003 she toured as a professional dance artist at several continents and taught at the Universities in Europe. Being a life long student, she is constantly educating herself in body-mind sciences.

Raisa began her studies in Somatic Experiencing in 2018 and she is an SEP®. After completing her SE training she did Eye Of The Needle, near death experiences -training with Peter Levine, PhD and Touch Training for Therapists and Coupling Dynamics trainings with Kathy L. Kain, PhD. Currently she is also working as an assistant in Somatic Experiencing® trauma therapist trainings.

As an SEP® Raisa helps the clients who’s body’s natural flow have been interrupted by a traumatic event to restore their innate ability to be in the body and to get back to the flow of movement. She is working with people from various backgrounds, abilities and conditions, designing every session according to the needs and abilities of the person.

Raisa owns a movement practice studio in downtown San Francisco where she kindly and firmly guides her private movement and SE® sessions. She fully dives into her teaching, calmly, kindly and skillfully guiding her students to new discoveries about their body-mind connection. She combines her over 35 years of expertise in movement and body-mind education under the umbrella of IdaFlow LLC.
